The Role of Open Educational Resources [OER] in Remote Learning

Open Educational Resources [OER] are learning, teaching and research materials in any format or medium that reside in the public domain under copyright or which are released under an open license that permit no - cost access, re - use, re - purpose, distribution and adaptation by everybody. Open Educational Resources are available to all and are really important for modern - day education. Especially, during the COVID - 19 pandemic, we realized its utmost importance. Without Open Educational Resources, the whole world would have come to an inevitable standstill.

Now that we have been introduced to Open Educational Resources, we must now know about their importance. Anything that aids education can be called as an Open Educational Resource. Since they have done a crucial job in modernizing education, many private companies and the government are looking forward to a substantial increase in the number of Open Educational Resources available to everybody. This is one of the reasons behind the introduction of QR - Codes, E - Books and educational websites. This has done a lot in modernizing education. In the olden days, if you had to learn more about a given topic apart from what was given in your textbooks, then you had to pore over books from the library. But nowadays, the situation is a lot more better. You can just type in whatever question that you may have regarding any topic in the websites and get the exact answers that you want to learn.

Remote learning is a type of learning where the teacher and the student are not together in a classroom - like environment and are actually apart both by time and distance. Open Educational Resources have done a lot in aiding remote learning and have made it much more easier for everybody to access the digital world. Since the world was entirely dependent on remote learning during the COVID - 19 pandemic, Open Educational Resources have been the backbone of remote learning for the past couple of years
